This week has been all about trial and error, as expected at this stage. I have been forming and shaping my statement of intent and feel now that I am much clearer about where I wish to go - my statement of intent naturally encouraged me to begin writing an essay plan, and I feel very confident that I am now heading in the right direction with this unit.
Creative Practice
On Tuesday this week I had a creative practice tutorial, and I found that I was struggling to communicate my ideas verbally. I was able to discuss that I wanted to continue to use collage and create more of an impact with dimensions through working digitally, however, when discussing my contextual theories I suddenly realised I was actually quite confused.
When prompted to discuss the work I had created previously, I found that I was able to discuss it with ease and confidence. I realised that although I felt strongly about the current crisis in Syria and Syria's children, I had no real personal experience of this and this would affect my outcomes. I realised that I couldn't create powerful work as I have done previously, as my knowledge of this subject was from secondary resources alone.

Roslers' House Beautiful series features framing, similarly to work I have seen before with artists such as Eugania Loli. I intend to look on to her work next week, and explore her influences in order to produce some digital work.
My Statement of Intent is now complete, and I have decided to focus on Nurture, Play, Media and Culture. I believe that as a 21 year old female, I have personal experience and views on gender and representation. As I also want to get into teaching, I feel strongly about how young women in particular are targeted as an audience and the expectations that we have on them as as society. This title also leaves me some scope to compare how we are nurturing British children, to how we will nurture and educate children from a range of backgrounds.
Research Report
This week I haven't been able to focus on my Research Report as much as I would have liked, but I feel the work I have completed as part of my creative practice has informed my report. I have now focused on some specific areas and I intend on spending time perfecting and organising my essay plan, I feel a little behind with this and am hoping that by the end of next week I can begin writing.
