This week I have focused on creating the initial essay plan and layout for my Research Report. The title is as follows...
Female Identity, Representation and Play
Culture.
An Extended Essay exploring the effect visual culture has
on female gender identity.

The image to the right is a very simple digital mood board I created to help me visualise my Research Report. It has really helped me to see my ideas to come together.
The mood board includes work from both Barbara Kruger and Linder Sterling, as well as a young and slightly older females' dressed up as princesses. The composition also includes a lady taking a 'selfie'.
There are several strong points that come across through this visual piece, including Femininity, Gender Identity, Representation, The Male Gaze Theory, Play+Role Culture, Visual Culture, Body Image and Celebrity Culture. Each of these points are included in my essay plan, demonstrated through my contents page below.
I have finished my notice period at work this week and I feel quite relieved, as I am behind on my schedule of work. I haven't yet began writing, even though according to my work schedule I should have done - I feel I may not have myself enough time. I am hoping to get stuck in next week as I can give more time to reading, researching and writing my report.
Creative Practice..
This week I have focused more on my Research Report, and I think this may be the case for the beginning of next week also. As I have chosen to complete a 10,000 word report, this is to be expected but it is important to me that I don't loose sight of the creative side of this project. All of the research I am completing for my research report is informing my creative practice in some ways, but I am hoping to produce some more experimental pieces next week and put some more work into my sketch book.
